Lorie is a busy homeschooling mother of six
children, including twins and two children who were
internationally adopted —one from Haiti and one from
Liberia. She has taught and ministered in Bible
Studies for over ten years. She and her husband
Duane are founders of Reaching Hands
Orphan/Adoption Ministries. Through a
partnership with Children’s HopeChest, Reaching
Hands Ministries enables nearly 300 impoverished
African orphans to receive regular food, clothing,
and education. Lorie has also served on the
Community Ministries Council for the past nine years
where she has worked directly with numerous
ministries such as FamilyLife Today’s Hope For
Orphans, Augusta Rescue Mission, Children’s
HopeChest, Interfaith Hospitality, and Miracle
Making Ministries.
Although her background is in elementary education,
Lorie is a free-lance writer and has been a speaker
at numerous Women’s Retreats and Women’s Ministry
Events. She is a regular writer and speaker for
All For His Glory Ministries where
she also serves as Workshop Coordinator,
Director of Publications and Event Planning
Coordinator. Lorie has also written for AIM
Homeschooling Magazine and has been a recent
guest on Moody Broadcasting Network’s Midday Live
Connection.
A gifted and powerful speaker,
Lorie has felt the Hand of Grace in her own life.
Her passion is to bring women to that same grace
through relevant teaching and everyday stories of
life. When Lorie takes the stage, the Lord clearly
shines through her voice and touches the hearts of
all who hear. Her warm and relaxed style makes women
of all ages feel right at home as she weaves real
life stories around messages from God’s Word.
Some of Lorie’s favorite
verses include Luke 9:24 NLT, “If you try to keep
your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if
you give up your life for Me, you will find true
life.” Also Ps. 63: 8 NIV, “My soul follows
close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.”
Lorie and her family
enjoy camping, hiking and picnicking near their home
in the mountains of North Carolina.
